Ralof Underfoot
If you chose to follow the Imperial out of Helgen, then you may get a little confused. If you followed Ralof out, then you’ve been confused for a while already.
I’m probably over-indulging. iPhones have been around for four and a half years and this Christmas I received my first one. Since then I’ve gone app crazy. I’ve been making up for lost time. I’d like to tell you about some of the games I’ve been playing.
I’ll start with Hero Academy. I’ve only found this one recently, but I can already tell I’m going to be losing a lot of hours here. Hero Academy is a turn-based strategy (sold.) set up as a sporting event between fantasy factions. Each team’s objective is to destroy the other team’s crystals. Deploy your units onto the field, set their moves and attacks, then submit your turn.
The units on the basic human Council faction include Knights, Archers, Wizards, Clerics, and Ninjas. Yeah, Ninjas. You’ll get over it when you start using his powers. He can teleport and trade places with any of his teammates which opens up some really fun gameplay options. One strategy I like to use is sending one of my weaker units like the Archer in, letting the Archer become surrounded, then teleporting the Ninja into the Archer’s place to wreak havoc. Each unit has its own unique abilities that make them useful in certain situations and it’s been a lot of fun learning new ways to use them.
The game is really easy to pick up, and that’s a good thing considering how anemic the tutorial is. Once you get into a game there’s a decent help button…thing, but you’re pretty much on your own with learning the intracacies of everyone’s powers. I’m okay with that myself, but I’ve seen a lot of questionable moves from opponents who obviously aren’t aware of how things function in here.
So, as easy as it is to play there is definitely a learning curve. I’m trying to climb it myself, so get in here. Let’s fight.
